Mission Statement

The mission of the South Slope Dog Association is to improve the quality of life in the Greenwood Heights area by creating and maintaining dog friendly space, encouraging beautification of green space, promoting awareness of laws and etiquette relating to dog ownership, and fostering positive interaction between dog owners and the community as a whole.

EVENT: How to Build a Tree Pit Guard

South Slope Dog has partnered with Brooklyn Shade to offer a public workshop to our community on how to build "tree pit guards", which protect trees from dogs.

• Learn how to get a free tree for in front of your home!
• Learn how to care for the tree to make sure that it grows handsomely!
• Learn how to protect the tree for future generations!

Cost:                 FREE

Date/Time:       November 1, 2009 from 2-4pm

Location:          6/15 Green - the community garden on 6th Avenue at 15th Street

South Slope Dog Owners Unite!

Dear fellow dog owners -

Wouldn't it be nice to have a place where we can bring our dogs to safely play off leash without fear of being ticketed?  It's not a new idea, but it is one whose time has come.  I have contacted the Parks Department and it seems that if we organize we might be able to adopt the parkland between 6th and 7th Avenue between Prospect and 18th Street.  I am collecting email addresses so that interested South Slope dog owners can unite and strategize together.
